Why this is the office to call about an election

In Iowa the county auditor is the commissioner of elections: the office that registers voters, sets the polling places, prints the ballot and certifies the result. A question about where you vote, whether you are registered, or what a result was is a question for this office rather than for the county board.

Where the names come from

Each county's own published directory, re-read on a schedule and landing as a reviewed pull request. 98 of the 99 name a party; the rest publish none, and this page prints none for them rather than supplying one.
