Chicago now elects its Board of Education from numbered school board districts. Candidate guides and CPS materials refer to them by sub-district names like 1a or 6b — the map shows both the district number and that sub-district name for any address.

What the lookup shows
Select any point in Chicago and the school board card shows the elected school board district that covers it, its sub-district name, and the board member currently holding the seat — taken from the official CPS roster. If a seat is vacant, the card says so rather than guessing.
School board districts are separate from CPS attendance zones — the map also has layers for the elementary and high school attendance boundaries, under Schools.
Where the boundaries come from
The district geometry comes from the official elected-school-board sub-district shapefile, and the member roster from CPS's published district roster; every layer's exact source is on the sources & data layers page. The map is free, requires no login, and sets no tracking cookies.
